Lisa has always loved the organic nature of gourds, and has collected many over the years. She started her own distinctive look with mixing dyes & metallic powders. She then moved on to using more organic materials such as pine needles, philodendron sheaths, seed pods, feathers, bone, antler and wood & glass beads to accessorize.
Pricing on gourds can range from $50.00 for small to $175.00 for large, elaborate pieces. Please contact artist by email for more information on specific items.
Lisa has been working with metal embossing in her framed mixed media art pieces for a couple of years- in a more literal sense focusing on trees and florals. With her recent move to the Southwest, she was inspired by her new surroundings to create a new mosaic metal embossing art form. “It’s a little like a jigsaw puzzle, but I get to design the pieces and make sure it all fits perfectly, it also really suits my personality.” She just recently started incorporating tile beads to add a little more dimension.
Lisa wanted to start incorporating pine needles in her gourd work. This was a little more complicated than she initially anticipated, so she enrolled in multiple classes at the local junior college. The outcome of marrying the two genres was lovely, but she then became “hooked” on weaving pine needle baskets alone. Lisa has been challenging herself this winter to push her boundaries by assuring that she includes a new set of skills with each new basket she makes. “This has been a most satisfying endeavor this winter” she states.” I still love making framed wall pieces and the cards, but for now my time and energies have gone toward gourd & basket work.”
Pricing on Pine Needle Baskets can range from $75.00 to $300.00 depending on size and cost of materials. Please contact artist by email for more information on specific pieces.
Framed wall pieces are collections using stamped leather or wood, vintage buttons, foreign coins, beads, wire, stamped and torch worked metals, laser cut wood and custom organic papers. All these are strategically layered and arranged.
Pieces will vary in price from approximately $80.00 to $300.00 depending on size, framing, and cost of materials. Please contact artist by email for more information on specific pieces.
Lisa's art is a compilation of her interests in various forms and textures stemming from her years as an art gallery owner and lifetime artist. Layering wood, metal, leather, stone, beads, wire, antique buttons, foreign coins, stamps, embossing and various found objects is a common theme. The clean esthetic reflects her need for order (her self admitted OCD!)
Lisa is a Pacific Northwest native that recently relocated to the sunny Southwest.
Art is spiritual for Lisa and brings her great fulfillment, which she hopes is reflective in her pieces.
"I started my mixed media work nearly a decade ago. It was a very cold & long winter in my previous home of Whitefish, MT and I really needed an outlet for my creative energy. I'm still not sure where the inspiration came from, but it hit hard and fast. I basically began working in an almost manic state and haven’t slowed much since! I am enjoying the work tremendously and can't imagine not continuing to grow and experiment in this particular art form. I have since branched out into embossed metal art, pine needle coiling, carved decorative gourds, and a line of one-of-a-kind cards. I started showing my work for the first time at Art Works Gallery in Sandpoint, ID in June of 2018. It was an incredible experience working in the gallery, and being surrounded by such talented and creative people. Since relocating to the Southwest, I am now showing at Wickenburg Art Club & Gallery” - Lisa
